I love a good rant, and today, we have a great innovation rant from our friend Woody Bendle. What’s got Woody ranting today? Best Practices. Note to self . . . don’t mention Best Practices around Woody. Here’s why:

Continuous Innovation and Continuous Improvement – By Woody Bendle

Posted by Admin on Feb 1, 2012 11:50:26 PM

Here’s another great post from Woody Bendle, who debuted as a guest Brainzooming blogger last week. In the intro on Woody’s first Brainzooming post, I didn’t go into much biographical information on him. An economist by training, Woody is currently the Director, Insights & Innovation at Collective Brands, Inc. in Topeka, KS. Previously he was with Blockbuster as Vice President of Marketing, Customer Analytics & Strategic Systems. Today, Woody Bendle is sharing his perspective on how innovation and improvement can both be continuous.

Cleaning Out the Brainzooming Blog House for 2011

My office is filled with blogging notebooks full of potential ideas for future blog posts. On our Christmas trip to Western Kansas, I must have taken 5 or 6 notebooks, plus Word documents full of additional blog idea starters in the hopes of building a cushion of completed blog posts again. While a cache of blog topic ideas typically yields time efficiency benefits, having blog topics laying around can also be a creative drag at times.

Want a More Creative Strategy – Watch What You Watch!

In a recent TalentZoo.com post called “Thirsting for Originality,” author Danny Goldgeiger addressed the perceived similarity of a Super Bowl ad for Coca-Cola and a nine-year old ad from Israel for a chocolate milk product. Danny G. wrestles with the possibility that wide access to media makes it more, rather than less, likely similar ideas may show up multiple places.

The Creative unConference – Guest Post from Stephanie Sharp

Posted by Admin on Jun 3, 2009 10:50:00 PM

In early May, a TweetDeck search on “creative” tweets showed several referencing a Creative unConference in New York. I tweeted to attendees asking for a guest blogger to write about their experience presenting at an event where there’s not really a pre-planned schedule.

Part of it was professional curiosity since I’m chairing the American Marketing Association Market Research Conference in October, and we’ve discussed how to incorporate more attendee-driven content. The other part was a sincere interest in all of us learning more about these types of emerging events.

Creative Freakout

Posted by Admin on Jul 17, 2008 11:00:00 PM

My dad managed the TV station in Hays, KS where I grew up. His job was the source of an amazing number of cool experiences. One of the best was in 1975 when Topps sent him 3 cases of baseball cards. So what did I do all summer? I opened pack after pack of baseball cards. And 1975 happened to be a year with two rookie cards for future Hall of Famers – George Brett and Robin Yount. I still have 6 or 7 each of these cards!
