I delivered a Brainzooming workshop on “Budget-Extending Social Content Strategy” at the Social Media Strategies Summit this week. We had more than forty attendees, which is a lot for a three-hour, interactive workshop. We adjusted our approach to maximize the interaction among the participants. During the time together, we worked through various Brainzooming tools to develop and implement social content strategy that is smart online and drives results for a brand.

My office is filled with blogging notebooks full of potential ideas for future blog posts. On our Christmas trip to Western Kansas, I must have taken 5 or 6 notebooks, plus Word documents full of additional blog idea starters in the hopes of building a cushion of completed blog posts again. While a cache of blog topic ideas typically yields time efficiency benefits, having blog topics laying around can also be a creative drag at times.

In early May, a TweetDeck search on “creative” tweets showed several referencing a Creative unConference in New York. I tweeted to attendees asking for a guest blogger to write about their experience presenting at an event where there’s not really a pre-planned schedule.
Part of it was professional curiosity since I’m chairing the American Marketing Association Market Research Conference in October, and we’ve discussed how to incorporate more attendee-driven content. The other part was a sincere interest in all of us learning more about these types of emerging events.
